CAMP SMITH TRAINING SITE--Members of the Recruit Sustainment Program from New York City get ready to conduct an urban assault drill during weekend training at Camp Smith over the May 1-2 weekend.
About 125 new members of the New York Army National Guard spent their drill practicing pugil stick fighting, rapelling, drill and ceremonies, and basic room-clearing skills armed with Airsoft rifles that resemble M-4 carbines.
The RSP program helps new recruits prepare for basic training, said Warrant Officer Douglas Sherman, the program coordinator.
