QUEENS -- New York Guard Capt. John Passarotti and Capt. Robert Patterson are briefed in John F. Kennedy International Airport by Joint Task Force Empire Shield Staff Sgt. Ronnie Redfern, a member of the New York Army National Guard on June 29.
The two officers toured various terminals where the JTFES performed a surge drill alongside the New York and New Jersey Port Authority Police Department.
The New York Guard is a nonpaid all volunteer force, which augments the Army National and Air Guard in state.
Currently, there are members of the NYG attached to the element to assist in daily efforts.
