New York Aviators in South Africa

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA--New York Army National Guard Soldiers from Detachment 1, Alpha Co, 1-224 Aviation Security and Support Battalion, unload an OH-58 Kiowa from a C-5a operated by the New York Air National Guard’s 105th Airlift Wing on Friday Sept.17 at Air Force Base Ysterplaat here.

The crew, based at Army Aviation Support Facility #3 in Latham is participating in the African Aerospace Defence Exposition 2010.

Seventy members of the New York Air and Army National Guard are participating in the exposition,which kicked off on Sept. 21. The New York National Guard is paired with South Africa through the National Guard’s State Partnership Program
