Guard Leaders Remember 21st President

MENANDS-- Brig. Gen. Renwick Payne ( left) the Director of Joint Staff and Command Sgt. Major Robert Van Pelt place a wreath at the grave of President Chester Arthur in Albany Rural Cemetery on Oct. 5; which would have been the president’s 181st birthday.
The New York National Guardsmen were representing President Barack Obama and honoring a former president on his birthday. Military units around the nationa fulfill this duty on the birthdates of former presidents.
School Children from Menands also attended the presentation.
