WAKELY MOUNTAIN, N.Y. -- Two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters from Army Aviation Support Facility 3 based in Latham airlift pre-constructed platforms for the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) on Nov. 29 at this remote area of the Adirondack Mountains.
The airlifted platforms will allow the DEC to eventually construct a heli-pad as well as a repeater radio station on top of the mountain that will be used by the DEC and other state agencies. Each platform section weighed more than 2000 pounds and were constructed in Colorado and flatbed delivered to the Adirondacks.
