SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Sleepy Hollow Mayor Kenneth Wray gives remarks in remembrance of 32 members of the New York Guard who gave their lives in 1918 while in the service of the state protecting the water supplies of New York.
The 92rd Annual remembrance ceremony of the 1st Provisional Regiment here remembers the NY Guard members who died of influenza while on duty. To mark their sacrifice a boulder from Bonticou Crag in Ulster County’s Shawangunk Mountains, lay in memoriam " a small piece from the vast area of the aqueduct the Guardsmen protected.
