NIAGARA FALLS-- Members of the New York Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, Army Reserve and New York Army National Guard, listen to Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta during his visit to Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station on Thursday, August 9. The Reserves and National Guard play a key role in the defense of the United States Paneta said. The Secretary visited the base at the request of local leaders. The base, run by the 914th Airlift Wing of the Air Force Reserve is home to the 107th Airlift Wing of the New York Air National Guard as well as an Armed Forces Reserve Center housing the Headquarters Troop of the Army National Guard’s 2nd Squadron 101st Cavalry and Army Reserve units.
