LATHAM , NY - Maj. Gen. Lieber, a Schenectady, N.Y. resident who is retiring at the end of December, served from 1975 to 1985 , re-enlisted in 2003 and served in Iraq about two years later. As the oldest serving Soldier in the New York Army National Guard, Lieber joined two of the youngest New York National Guard members to cut a cake in celebration of the National Guard's 377th Birthday during the ceremonies.
