ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- New York Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Megan Lane (right) gives a wallet-sized "z-card" to Madeline Williams (left) before a session of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program at the Aquinas Institute of Rochester here on July 26, 2014. New York National Guard troops gave disaster and emergency training to about 250 people who attended the event, and the z-card contains emergency preparedness information. The program is designed to give citizens the knowledge and tools to prepare for emergencies and disasters, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. New York National Guard troops, working with experts from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Office of Fire Prevention and Control, and local emergency management personnel have been conducting these sessions across the state. Williams lives in Rochester and Lane, a resident of Saratoga, N.Y., is a member of the 109th Airlift Wing.
