Flushing, NY -- New York Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Sharon Rimal holds the coin used in the pre-match coin toss inside Arthur Ashe Stadium at the US Open Tennis Tournament on Labor Day. Rimal and U.S. Air Force Col. (Ret.) Terrance Holliday, the commissioner of veterans affairs for New York City, were recognized in a short ceremony during the third annual Military Appreciation Day at the US Open. Rimal serves with the NY Army National Guard’s 27th Financial Management Co. as the Readiness NCO and returned in the spring from a deployment to Kuwait.
