New York Army National Guard Soldiers from work with New York State Police to control access to the New York State Thruway in Buffalo, N.Y., November 20 as part of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s callup of some 550 National Guard members to support response and recovery efforts in Western New York following historic amounts of snowfall. Some two dozen engineers, based in Buffalo, utilized bucket loaders and dump trucks to clear key roadways for emergency responders at this one site, part of ongoing efforts with more than a dozen missions completed in the first 48 hours.
