New York Army National Guard Lt. Col. Peter Riley, commander of the Guards Joint Task Force Empire Shield, speaks with Israeli Defense Force Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York City January 9. Gantz visited New York following meetings in Washington with Gen. Martin Dempsey, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs as part of his transition out after his service as the IDFs 20th Chief of Staff. Riley provided an overview of the National Guards response after 9/11 and its ongoing role to augment law enforcement agencies at critical transportation sites in New York during Gantz visit.
