BUFFALO--New York National Guard response forces from the 105th Military Police Company provide traffic control near Buffalo, New York following substantial lake effect snowfall across Western New York January 9. Governor Andrew M. Cuomo activated approximately 100 National Guard members to provide augmentation to law enforcement during the snowfall, which forced the closure of the New York State Thruway and local roads in the region. The Guard employed three initial response forces with humvees and personnel for the traffic control missions, ensuring motorists avoided the closed roads.
