LATHAM N.Y. -- Maj. Gen. Anthony German, the adjutant general of New York, speaks during a Memorial Day ceremony at the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs (DMNA) here on May 26. German asked DMNA employees, Soldiers, Airmen and others who attended the ceremony to keep fallen service members in their thoughts during the Memorial Day weekend. Over 100 people attended the ceremony, which was held on DMNA grounds near the New York Military Forces Memorial (right). The memorial depicts an inverted rifle and bayonet with helmet displayed inside a pair of combat boots, most often referred to as a battlefield cross.
