Governor Andrew M. Cuomo directed the National Guard to deploy personnel to Washington County May 5 to assist local emergency responders with tree and debris removal. National Guard personnel are prepared to assist additional storm impacted areas as necessary. The Governor also issued an update on the severe storms that moved through the eastern portion of upstate New York on Friday, May 4. Storms accompanied by strong, gusty winds of 40 mph to 60 mph knocked out power to over 100,000 customers and toppled trees and limbs, damaging some homes in these regions. Courtesy photo.
