OLD WESTBURY--Major General Ray Shields the Adjutant General of New York, speaks with New York Army National Guard 1st Lt. Mae Battaglia, a member of the 152nd Brigade Engineer Battalion, who is assigned to control access at the alternative care facility constructed at the State University of New York Old Westbury campus by the Army Corps of Engineers in Old Westbury on Long Island on April 28 2020. Shields journeyed to Long Island along with Command Sgt. Major David Piwowarski and Major General Tim LaBarge the commmander of the New York Air National Guard to meet with Soldiers and Airmen mobilized for the COVID19 pandemic response mission. The Old Westbury facility was built so it could be equipped and staffed as an overflow hospital is necessary.
