CAMP SMITH--New York Guard Major Vingrove Thomas, and New York Guard Private Johnathan Rosa, cut a birthday cake commemorating the 105th anniversary of the state's volunteer self-defense force, during a ceremony on August 16, 2022 at Camp Smith Training Site in Cortlandt Manor, New York. Thomas, the oldest member of the New York Guard present, represented the history of the organization while Rosa, the youngest member, represents its future. The New York Guard is conducting a week-long annual training at Camp Smith which ends on August 20.
