HEMPSTEAD Newly commissioned Army second lieutenants take the oath of office for the New York National Guard during commissioned ceremonies conducted on May 20, 2023 at Hofstra University for members of the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Culper Battalion in Hempstead, New York. Army National Guard officers take an oath that includes preserving and protecting the Constitution of the State of New York and obeying the orders of the governor, in addition to the regular military officer commissioning oath.
