SCOTIA-- Airmen from the New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing prepare to launch an LC-130H "Skibird" heading for Antarctica at Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia, New York on October 17, 2024. The wing launched two aircraft with ten Airmen on the five day flight to Christchurch, New Zealand on the 17th and three aircraft and aircrew the day before. Five LC-130s and 400 Airmen will support the National Science Foundation Antarctic research mission from now until Februar, 2025.
