ALASKA-- Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18s and U.S. Air Force F-16s escort an LC-130 "Skibird" of the New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing, over the North Slope of Alaska, February 26, 2025. The F-16 and CF-18 exercised tracking and intercepting the LC-130 over the arctic. Bi-national operations help NORAD fulfill requirements for timely and accurate information across all domains. The on-going adaptation of NORADs mission and capabilities to meet the challenges posed by ever-changing threats testifies to the strength of the NORAD Agreement and the close cooperation between Canada and the United States. The 109th is participating in Canadian Exercise Nanook-Nunaluvit.
