MCMURDO BAY, ANTARCTICA An LC-130H Hercules assigned to the New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing flies over the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star near McMurdo Station Antarctica on Feb. 3 2026. Joint Task Force Support Forces Antarctica supports Operation Deep Freeze the U.S. military logistical aid to the U.S. Antarctic Program. The 109th Airlift Wing flies the largest aircraft in the world able to land on snow or ice with skies.
