WEST POINT--New York National Guard Airmen from the 105th Airlift Wing's Civil Engineer Squadron use a protractor to locate points on a map during a land navigation exercise at West Point Military Installation on April 9 2026. The exercise taught the Airmen how to navigate in unfamiliar terrain without technology improving their situational awareness teaching them to plot points and calculate distance through pacing.
