Naval Militia leader attends Swedish reception

WASHNGTON, D.C.-- Rear Admiral MaryEtta Nolan, the commander of the New York Naval Militia, presents her challenge coin to Swedish ambassador Urban Ahlin during a Swedish Embassy Reception held The Yacht Club at the Wharf in Washington, D.C. on June 8, 2026. Nolan represented Major General Raymond Shields, the adjutant general of New York, at the reception. The New York National Guard has been participating in a State Partnership Program training and exchange relationship with the Swedish military since 2024.
Swedish Marine and naval officers and petty officers have been regular visitors to Naval Militia activities.
