HEMPSTEAD-- Students at Hempstead High School run through the events highlighted in Disasterville, a virtual reality event which highlights the service of Army National Guard Soldiers in responding to weather emergencies on October 22, 2026 at Hempstead High School in Hempstead, New York. The evetn was hosted by the Soldiers of A Company of the New York Army National Guard's Recruiting and Retention Battalion. The students went through three exercises using virtual reality headsets-- including one involving responding to a flood using an inflatable boats-- which put them in the shoes of a National Guard Soldier.
