According to the Veterans Administration, more than 6,000 Veterans lost their lives to suicide in 2017, and that number continues to rise. Stresses of Military life can be tramatic, or acute - building gradually over time - escalating the Veteran suicide rate to roughly twice that of the population as a whole.
The NYARNG Safety Office has assembled tips to help identify the warning signs of suicide and suggested actions one can take to help anyone suffering from mental health crises.
