CAMP SMITH-- New York Air National Guard Chaplain (Cpt.) Tommy Garcia, a member of the 105th Airlift Wing, places the traditional ashes on the forehead of Army National Guard Spec. Vera Zhiminaycela to mark Ash Wednesday on February 18. Catholics traditionally have ashes placed on their forehead to mark the start of the Lenten season and symbolize the need for spiritual renewal. Zhiminaycela, a member of C. Company, 119th Division Sustainment Support Battalion, is working in the command cell for the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision support mission.
