NEW YORK CITY -- New York National Guard troops gave disaster and emergency training New York Army National Guard Capt. Glenford Rose teaches an emergency preparedness class during a session of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program at the United Nations International School here on Aug. 12, 2014. to about 300 people who attended the event. The program is designed to give citizens the knowledge and tools to prepare for emergencies and disasters, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. New York National Guard troops, working with experts from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Office of Fire Prevention and Control, and local emergency management personnel have been conducting these sessions across the state. Rose, the executive officer of the 466th Area Support Medical Company, is from Brooklyn, N.Y.
