New York National Guard Troops Surge for 9/11

NEW YORK -- New York National Guard members Staff Sgt. Johnny Noguera, at right, and Spc. Michael Sloan, assigned to Company C from Joint Task Force Empire Shield, the standing homeland security force based at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, provide additional security patrols at JFK International Airport September 11. More than 250 troops provided assistance to the Transportation Security Agency, Port Authority, New York City Police Department and other law enforcement agencies in advance of the city and nation’s commemoration of the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
