Enduring Missions

Joint Task Force NYNG Support to DOCCS (JTF DOCCS)

Joint Task Force NYNG Support to DOCCS (JTF DOCCS) mission is to support the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. There is a need to augment current DOCCS personnel with NYNG and NYNM Service Members to facilitate operations in multiple NYS correctional facilities across the State. Governor Hochul activated the National Guard in support of the DOCCS in February 2025 and directed the National Guard to support the mission until complete.

Joint Task Force Empire Shield (JTF-ES)

Joint Task Force Empire Shield’s (JTF-ES) primary goal is to deter and prevent potential terrorist operations in the New York City Metropolitan Area. Security operations are implemented daily through pre-planned programs using a random and strategic methodology. Joint Task Force Empire Shield is designed to respond to a wide range of incident types.  The Task Force prepares for manmade or natural disasters by training alongside and working with civilian authorities and agency partners.

 


NYS Citizen Preparedness Corps (CPC)

New York State Citizen Preparedness training, initially launched by Governor Andrew Cuomo gives residents have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Citizen Preparedness training began in February 2014 across New York. Trainings are led by the New York National Guard and The American Red Cross working with experts from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Office of Emergency Management, and Office of Fire Prevention and Control.

Cyber Support to DHSES (CSD)

The CSD is a pilot program between DMNA and the DHSES Office of Counter Terrorism's Critical Infrastructure Unit. The team enhances the DHSES Cybersecurity capabilities and assessments by developing a Cybersecurity Assessment Program that includes vulnerability assessments that will be offered to State, local, public, and private entities of New York State.

 


Military Emergency Boat Service (MEBS)

The mission of MEBS is to provide rapid, deployable, small boat capabilities to Civil Support Operations, Homeland Security and New York National Guard operations in assigned waters, as directed by the Adjutant General or his or her designated representative.
