Joint Task Force Asylum Seeker Resource Support's purpose is to support New York State to mitigate human suffering for individuals and families seeking asylum status in the United States. This mission started in October 2022 and is currently the largest State Active-Duty mission in New York State. The New York National Guard is looking for qualified Service Members from the Army and Air National Guard, New York State Guard, and New York State Naval Militia to join the mission on a continual basis. Standard duties and responsibilities include administrative and logistical support, monitoring shelter locations to ensure a high quality of life, and additional supporting tasks.
The Asylum mission is looking for Service Members in grades E1 - O5 for the NYC, Latham, Rochester, and Buffalo areas.
Effective 11JUL24 new applications for JTF ASRS are suspended.

Joint Task Force Empire Shield’s (JTF-ES) primary goal is to deter and prevent potential terrorist operations in the New York City Metropolitan Area. Security operations are implemented daily through pre-planned programs using a random and strategic methodology. Joint Task Force Empire Shield is designed to respond to a wide range of incident types. The Task Force prepares for manmade or natural disasters by training alongside and working with civilian authorities and agency partners.
New York State Citizen Preparedness training, initially launched by Governor Andrew Cuomo gives residents have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Citizen Preparedness training began in February 2014 across New York. Trainings are led by the New York National Guard and The American Red Cross working with experts from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Office of Emergency Management, and Office of Fire Prevention and Control.

The CSD is a pilot program between DMNA and the DHSES Office of Counter Terrorism's Critical Infrastructure Unit. The team enhances the DHSES Cybersecurity capabilities and assessments by developing a Cybersecurity Assessment Program that includes vulnerability assessments that will be offered to State, local, public, and private entities of New York State.
