Historic helicopter displayed in Rochester ROCHESTER--Onlookers watch as a UH-1 "Huey" medical evacuation helicopter is installed outside Army Aviation Support Facility #2 in Rochester on Dec. 16, 2022. The medevac helicopter, and an AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter, were placed on stands outside the facility to commemorate aircraft once flow by New York Army National Guard aviators stationed there. There aircraft were prevoiusly displayed on ground pads.

NY Guard honors Revolutionary War soldierSARATOGA NATIONAL CEMETERY--Members of the New York National Guard Honor Guard fold an American Flag during military honors for the dedication of a memorial stone for Private Oliver Barrett at the Saratoga National Cemetery on October 19 2022. Barrett volunteered as a Minuteman and died serving under the 10th Massachusetts Regiment in the Battle of Saratoga on October 7 1777 at 51 years of age. Barrett lies in an unmarked grave on the Saratoga Battlefield and was honored with a memorial stone at the ceremony.

NY Soldiers in Africa earn combat patches CAMP SIMBA, Kenya-- New York Army National Guard Soldiers deployed to East Africa as part of Task Force Wolfhound and stationed at Camp Simba, Kenya, receive their "combat patches" during an October 12, 2022 ceremony at the base. Combat patches are earned when Soldiers perform 30 days of duty in a designated area. The New York National Guard Soldiers are deployed as part of Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, and are conducting security missions at U.S. facilities in the region.

Naval Militia Marks Navy's 247th Birthday LATHAM-- Members of the New York Naval Militia on duty at New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs headquarters in Latham New York marked the 247th Birthday of the United States Navy on October 13 2002 by posing for a group photo with two goats the mascot of the Naval Academy. At one time goats were carried on sailing ships for their milk. The New York Naval Militias 2700 members serve concurrently in the Navy Marine Corps and Coast Guard Reserves while serving the state of New York.

National Guard chief honors 105th Airmen STEWART AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE--General Daniel Hokanson the Chief of the National Guard Burea left on stage joins the members of the crew of C-17 Reach 824 on Saturday June 4 at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh New York. Hokanson was there to present one Distinguished F lying Cross and five Air Medals to the flight crew. They were recognized for their airmanship and valor in August 2021 when they delivered critical cargo and personnel to Kabul Airport dispite small arms fire and other dangers.

106th conducts at sea medical drop mission OVER THE ATLANTIC--New York Air National Guard Technical Sgt. Steven Benza, a loadmaster, and Chief Master Sgt. Craig Connor, a flight engineer, who are both assigned to the 106th Rescue Wing, work to assemble a medical supply cargo drop during a mission into the North Atlantic on May 20, 2022. The 106th Rescue Wing launched a mission to drop medical supplies to the crew of the French-registered sailboat Namah which was sailing from France to Panama and was 1,200 east of Long Island. A crewmember had second degree burns and the crew required supplies to treat her.

Jason Candido, a propulsion specialist at the 109th Airlift Wing, performs maintenance on a 3.5 turbo engine on Jan. 26, 2022 at Stratton Air National Guard Base in Schenectady, New York. Candido was one of two airmen who spent over a month assembling the engine from scratch. The new engine will provide more power for the wing's LC-130 Skibirds as they take off from the ice in Antarctica or Greenland.

Naval Militia salutes departing NCOLATHAM-- Members of the New York Naval Militia on duty at New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs headquarters in Latham New York salute Naval Militia Gunnery Sgt. Elena Parra-Perez with a traditional Piping Ashore ceremony on Dec. 29 2021 as she concludes her tour of duty with the detail. Naval Militia Sailors and Marines have been working in the personnel and finance offices during the New York National Guard COVID-19 response to assist with administrative tasks. The New York Naval Militia is composed of Navy Coast Guard and Marine Corps Reserve members who also volunteer to perform state duty when called.
