The servicemembers are assigned to the migrant support mission in New York City, and visited the battlefield to further their military education. On the night of July 16, 1779 Continental Army Soldiers conducted a daring night attack and overwhelmed a British force of 600 men.

Reynaldo Castillo, combat medical specialists assigned to the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion, check the inner thigh heartbeat of Laska a military working dog supervised by MWD handlers assigned to Area Support Group - Kuwait on September 22 2023 at Camp Buehring Kuwait. The battalion is assigned to the 185th Aviation Battalion while deployed. Combat medical specialists from the 185th conducted training on how safely stabilize military working dogs injured on duty. This included assessing vital signs recognizing and treating shock and heat injuries and where to apply intravenous fluids. The 185th is deployed in support of Operations Inherent Resolve Spartan Shield and New Normal.

23 Aug, 2023YOUNGSTOWN TRAINNG AREA--A New York Army National Guard Soldier from the 2nd Squadron 101st Cavalry Regiment headquartered at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station but with elements across western New York, takes aim at the enemy during a spur ride at the Youngstown Lewiston Training Area Youngstown New York Aug. 17 2023. The Soldiers had to complete a written exam on tactical knowledge followed by route area and zone recon training lanes and finally a 12-mile ruck march over the course of 48 hours as part of a tradition of cavalrymen earning their spurs.

These matches are the second priority in the Chief of the National Guard Bureaus guidance for sustainment training events. Patrol Boat 440, which operates as part of Joint Task Force Empire Shield, the security mission in New York, works regularly with the Coast Guard in New York.

Airmen who are assigned to the wing and fly aboard the LC-130 "Skibirds" the wing flies have to go through the training.
28 Jun, 2023CHANTILLY, VIRGINIA-- New York Air National Guard Senior Airman Dhruva Poluru, who is assigned to the 107th Attack Wing's 222nd Command and Control Squadron, has been chosen as Airman of the Year for the entire Air National Guard. Poluru, is a full-time Guard Airmen working with the National Reconnaissance office in Herndon, Virginia where he tracks satellites, among other duties. The National Reconnaissance Office is the agency which runs America's space surveillance systems.

The 69th Infantry, nicknamed the "Fighting 69th" was originally an Irish-American New York militia unit which was brigaded with other regiments of Irish immigrants during the Civil War.

Rich Cestaro, the 106th Rescue Wing ground Superintendent, scanning the the Atlantic from the window of an HC-130J Combat King II search and rescue aircraft for a submersible which went missing while diving on the wreck of the Titanic on June 21, 2023.Several Airmen were scanners looking for the missing Titan submarine in support of the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard declared that the craft had imploded on Sunday, June 18 on Thursday, June 22.

GABRESKI AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE-- Airmen assigned to the 106th Rescue Wing work to prepare an HC-130 Combat King II search and rescue aircraft for launch on Monday, June 19, 2023 in response to a United States Coast Guard request for a search mission to help locate a missing submersible which was diving near the wreck of the Titanic. The wing flew search missions on June 19, 20 and 21 in support of the Coast Guard directed search.
16 Jun, 2023HINTERSTOISSER, Austria-- A C-17 Globemaster III assigned to the New York Air National Guards 105th Airlift Wing serves as a backdrop for a ceremony being held at Hinterstoisser Air Base in Austria on June 16, 2023, to mark the one-year anniversary of the Vermont Air National Guards State Partnership Program relationship with the Austrian military. In her remarks, Ambassador Victoria Reggie Kennedy praised the 105th for the work they have been doing supporting Air Defender 2023, a major NATO air defense exercise which is currently underway. Kennedy also got a chance to tour the aircraft.
13 Jun, 2023MENDONOfficials speak to each other following a ceremony held on June 11, 2023, in Mendon, New York to unveil a monument dedicated to three New York Army National Guard helicopter pilots who lost their lives when their UH-60 Black Hawk crashed in Mendon during a night training mission on January 20, 2022. The design of three flying geese commemorates warrant officers Steven Skoda, Daniel Prial and Christian Koch who were killed in the crash. Town officials commissioned the monument and a local artist created it. The memorial also includes plaques commemorating the three Guardsmen.

13 Jun, 2023OISE-AISNE AMERICAN CEMETERY, France --New York Army National Guard Command Sgt. Major Corey Cush, the senior enlisted leader for the 42nd Infantry Division, salutes the remains of a World War I Soldier which were interred at the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery on June 7, 2023. The Soldier was buried in a churchyard that is within the area the 42nd Infantry Division operated in during 1918. The Soldier was probably a member of the 165th Infantry Regiment, originally the New York National Guard's 69th Infantry.

24 May, 2023ROSE, New York --Soldiers of the New York National Guard honor guard receive the remains of 1st Lieutenant John Thomas a World War II Army Air Forces pilot who was killed in 1943 at the Rose Cemetery in North Rose New York on May 20 2023. Thomas was killed in action during a World War 2 bombing mission called Operation Tidal Wave in 1943 and his remains were not identified until 2022.

Ian Kerr checks out the radio system in a New York Army National Guard UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter at Army Aviation Support Facility #3 in Latham on Saturday, April 15 while on standby to fly a fire suppression mission in support of civilian firefighters in Orange County. Kerr and a flight crew waited at the facility in case they were called upon to help extinguish a wildfire in the town of Blooming Grove. Rainy weather helped contain the fire without calling upon the UH-60 team.

The Fighting 69th has led the worlds largest St. Patrick's Day parade since 1851. The bulk of the battalion is currently deployed in Djibouti where they marked St. Patrick's Day with a parade at Camp Lemonnier.

20 Mar, 2023DJIBOUTI--Soldiers of the New York Army National Guards 1st Battalion 69th Infantry Regiment on duty in Camp Lemonnier Djibouti march through the camp on St. Patrick's Day March 17 2023. The 69th has led the New York City St. Patricks Day Parade -- the largest in the world-- since 1851. While the battalions rear detachment marched at home the troops deployed in Africa conducted their own parade4 to keep the tradition alive.
15 Mar, 2023DJIBOUTI--Fifteen New York Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa received their United States citizenship during a historic naturalization ceremony at the United States Embassy in Djibouti City Djibouti Mar. 10. The Soldiers all belonging to the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team are in the midst of a 9 month deployment to CJTF-HOA conducting security and crisis response operations and are slated to return to the U.S. this summer. The ceremony is the first of its kind in the newly constructed U.S. Embassy and is a historic event for CJTF-HOA who has never before seen so many of its members become naturalized citizens at once. Maj. Gen. Jami Shawley the CJTF-HOA commander and the honorable Jonathan Pratt the United States Ambassador to Djibouti spoke at the ceremony and were among the first to congratulate the new citizens.

Airmen learned about the capabilities of the aircraft and determined how they could adapt the aircraft for casualty evacuation.

Maj Curtis Moss senior enlisted advisor to the commander of the brigade at Camp Arifjan Kuwait Feb. 21 2023. Spc. Sayal was chosen because she demonstrates confidence and competence far above her rank having worked on numerous investigations and projects within the legal section. Sgt. Billalba was chosen for his outstanding work with a forward logistics site he was able to thrive with despite great adversity.

Winning the Air Force Association Lisa S. Disbrow Outstanding Civilian of the Year for the Air National Guard will now see Murray go for overall Air Force civilian honors out of more than 170000 Air Force civilians.

The New York Army National Guard recruiters were the only National Guard recruiting team to meet their goal, and even exceed it, for fiscal 2022.

5 Jan, 2023NIAGARA FALLS--Staff Sgt Kevin Au 107th Attack Wing receives the New York State Military Commendation Medal from Col Andrew Carlson wing commander and Brigadier General Denise Donnell commander of the New York Air National Guard Dec 30 2022 Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. Eighteen members of the 107 ATKW earned the medal for displaying exemplary dedication and resiliency during their activation through a storm that would eventually claim 39 lives.
